I'm quite proud of myself in regards to this running thing. I'm running 5 days a week- basically I'm taking off on Tues and Thurs because of preschool. I still hate to run but I find myself so glad that I do it each day. The other day my knees started hurting. I was wondering if it's because I went from very little activity to quite a bit all at once or if it's because I'm old. I've sort of decided that it's a combination of both.....but I also decided I needed some new running shoes.
I give a big shout out to Luke's Locker..... they did a great job recommending a great shoe. The lady watched me walk, studied the wear pattern on my current shoe, did some measurements, etc....and then brought a few out for me to try on. I tried 2 different shoes on at the same time and then ran around the building. I ruled one out and then she replaced that with another (so I then had on 2 different shoes again) and went running and came back and ruled one out. I did this a few times until I found the pair that was just right for me. I appreciate that they let me run in them to get a good idea of what it would feel like. Once I narrowed it down, I put both shoes on and ran again. They were perfect. I have never been "fit" for a running shoe but I figured if I'm going to do this then I want to do it right. She then recommended some non cotton socks.....who knew that you shouldn't run in cotton socks?.... and I was out the door. Great experience!
How many times have you heard someone say that they pin tons of ideas onto Pinterest but then never get around to actually making them? Well, I'm guilty. I've said that plenty of times! But not anymore. I'm starting what I'm calling the Pinterest Project.
Basically, my goal is to make at least one thing every week that I pin from Pinterest. Pretty easy, huh? It can be making a recipe that I pin, recreating a cute outfit I like, completing a DIY project for the home or the boys......anything. And, to keep me accountable I am going to document it here. Even if it's a huge flop. Now, some weeks I just might feel like Martha Stewart and do more than one and then some weeks I might be frantically working the hot glue gun on Sunday night. But, my goal is to do at least one thing every week. And I hope you will join me!!

I have the very same shoes and LOVE them....my biggest tip is buy gel inserts, especially for running. I got mine for $20 at Hibbet I think. I did C25K and it really works, even if I had to repeat a week occasionally before going forward.
oh good! I figure for this price I BETTER love them! :)
I will check out the gel inserts. Thanks for that.
I'm using the C25K app too and I've been repeating certain days just to build myself up and allow myself to adjust. I have more than the 9 weeks so I figured it won't hurt to do that. I should be fine by the April run.
Great idea on the Pinterest project! I am so bad at pinning but never trying out the idea. Happy Running!
I love your idea for the Pinterest Project! I have done quite a few crafts/recipes from Pinterest, and most of them have turned out well. I don't know if I'll keep up with your once-a-week goal, but I'll be following your success! :)
I'm so happy for you about the running shoes! I'm always on the look out for good shoes. They're so important, (esp. when you get old like me ;)) I switched to trail running shoes last year and LOOOOOVE them, even though I never run on trails. Running is like a great "chill pill" for me. Love the way I feel when I'm done. Good luck with your race in April. Can't wait to hear about it.
Girl, I make AT LEAST 2 new recipes a week from pinterest- it's so fun! Then I delete it if it was bad, and make comments if I liked it! Love having new food to integrate- I feel like in the past we get into such ruts. I'm anxious to hear about things you've made and loved!
